Currently, in many countries, buyers can go to a supermarket and buy food that is made from all over the world. I think this is a positive development in the trade sector and food needs, but on the other hand, I also think there is a negative impact with many domestic products that are unable to compete.
In my opinion, I think this is good progress, especially in the provision of food needs and price stabilization. In large population countries, the need for food is often very high. For example, in Indonesia, the Indonesian population is more than 270 million people. National production of food, especially rice, is not enough. This condition always makes the price of rice become very expensive. A fast solution is taken by the government that is importing rice from several countries such as Thailand and Vietnam. This can make the rice price cheaper. This is why selling food from other countries is good progress.
However, like two sides of coins, there also have a negative impact. Importing goods always makes free trade in the domestic market, but not all producers can compete. For example, in Indonesia, the farmers still use traditional tools for farming that have spent lot of power but get little result. Moreover, the government still has not solved this problem. So, the government needs to pay attention to the bad impact on domestic producers.
In conclusion, it is a positive development to provision food from all over the world in supermarket. But, It also has a negative impact on domestic producers. The government must make a regulation for imported goods that also protect domestic producers.
