Founding public libraries is a waste of Governament’s money considering that almost all information is available online. I strongly disagee with this sentence.
First of all, we have to remember that not all information is available online, many books or enciclopedias are not downloadble on the internet but can be, instead, borrowed in public libriaries, futhermore we should consider that not all information on the web can be trusted; there are a lot of false manuscripts and articles on the internect probabibly due to a insufficient control of the resources. In this way, public libriries acts as a filter and propose only the real pubblished articles or issues to us.
Secondary, public libraries have a social impact, they are sites in which people can gather and study together. On daily basis, students and reseachers spend an huge amount of time in them, studying and also confronting each other on varius topics. In contrast, online studies tend to isolate individuals, creating a more closed society which can we detrimental for us all on the long run.
In summery, the stop of support on public libraries by the government will surely bring, in a couple of years time, their clousure and so contribuiting in reducing the quality of the people knowledge and in generating a lesser open society.
