The bar chart shows the popularity of European universities among students from China, Japan, United States and Russia between 2004 and 2008.
Overall, what stands out from chart is that, the number of students’ applications from China recorded the highest figure at the beggining of the period;however the number of American students’ applications surpassed them by the end of the period. It is also noticeable that the number of applications from all counrties had significant alteration expect Russia.
China was a leader among all four countries at the beggining of the period, it started at approximately 27.000 applications in 2004, but it declined considerably to just over 15.000 applications in 2008. Meanwhile, the number of students who applied from United States recovered at around 13.500 applications in 2004 and then over the years, until 2008 it double to about 27.000 application. As result the Unired States occupied the top position, whereas China held the second position.
As for the number of applications from Japanise’ stedents, it stood at roughly 6.500 applications in 2004 and then it rose steadily to around 10.000 applications in 2008. Despite the increase, Japan remained in third place by the end of the period among the four countries. The least popular Russia, the figure remained under 50000 aplications over the all period from 2004 and 2008.
