In the era of digitalization, many countries have been improving technology science to make people live longer than before. Some people believe that it can create problems for finance and the workforce, while others think that there are many cons if individuals have more elderly people than before. Although there are some advantages, like their having valuable experience and lessons, the disadvantages are more significant, like increasing the financial budget of the government and workforce reduction.
On the one hand, improving technology to make lives longer will have several serious disadvantages. Firstly, an aging population will increase the financial budget of governments. When the population increases, it will need more money for healthcare services and pensions, which can be overspent on health and neglect other problems like infrastructure and education. As a result, governments may need to enhance taxes or reduce spending in other areas. Secondly, there may be a lack of workers because a larger proportion of the population is older people, who are tired. This can slow down economic growth and reduce productivity in the long term.
On the other hand, an aging population can provide some benefits to society. One main advantage is that older people have valuable experience and knowledge. They can share their skills with younger generations, especially in families or workplaces. For example, grandparents often help to take care of their children and teach them important life lessons. In addition, elderly people may contribute to volunteer work, which can support communities and reduce social problems. As a result, it can bring positive effects to the environment.
In conclusion, although having more elderly people can bring some benefits, such as sharing experience and supporting communities, the disadvantages, particularly economic pressure and workforce reduction, are more serious. Therefore, I believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
