Some people believe that living in a natural state animals should not be kept in zoos. Meanwhile, others contend that there are good reasons for having zoos. There are valid opinions on both sides, which I will consider now.
On one hand, some people believe that wild animals should not be kept in captivity. Zoos can deprive natural freedom, bother ecosystem and make stress. Wild animals need big space for hunting and cruising. Zoos constrain space to move. Wild animals have rights for free life in its habitat. Wild animals are susceptible contact illness because of biosphere which is not consistent and can carry disease to society. Furthermore, some people feel that zoos are exploitation for society consolation than a true conservation institution.
On the other hand, supporters of zoos believe that zoos are build as last fortress for keeping species which are menaced extinct because of habitat destruction. Zoos become education means for visitor about the important of animal conversation, habitat destruction, animal’s behaviour and biodiversity. In addition, supporters of zoos feel that captivity make researchers for learning animal behaviour, nutrition and health more closely which is difficult to do in wild nature.
Overall, in spite of some probable disadvantages, I feel that keeping wild animals in captivity can negatively affect their freedom, health, and natural behaviour. Zoos often limit animals’ space and may cause stress and disease, so many people believe that wild animals should live freely in their natural habitats rather than being kept for human entertainment.
