The image presents two maps, "Nelson, 2000" and "Nelson, today". In 2000, Nelson had a university, trees, a train station, a city centre, an old market, a road with a car, and a port. In the "today" map, the university remains, but a hall of residence has been added to its west, and a new shopping centre has replaced the trees to its east. A tramline now connects the university and the new shopping centre. The train station has been replaced by a new train station. The city centre now incorporates a bike rental scheme with 4 bikes depicted. The old market has been replaced by a new shop, and a new covered market has been added further east. The road is now designated for pedestrians only, and the port area features a new restaurant and 'bars and clubs'.
Given the complexity of the image, the above description may not be entirely accurate.
