In the last century, billions of dollars have been spent on the exploration of the universe. Some people support this investment, while others believe that it would be much better to allocate this money toward solving problems on Earth, such as healthcare and education. In this essay, I will present both views and explain why we should prioritize our planet.
Those who advocate for space exploration believe that our planet may become uninhabitable in the future. They argue that if we discover a habitable planet nearby, we could build new lives there. Moreover, projects are already underway to achieve this goal, such as efforts to establish life on Mars. Thus, supporters of this perspective argue that government funding spent on exploring outer space is a worthwhile investment, as it could ultimately save humanity.
On the other hand, I, along with many others, do not support the ongoing idea of colonization. We already understand enough about our universe, and we should focus on being more responsible for our home planet and its inhabitants. If we invested this money in researching vaccines for deadly diseases and improving education, our lives could be significantly better than they currently are.
In conclusion, humanity’s needs should take precedence. However, the responsibility to allocate funds wisely lies with our governments.
