It is believed that just some individuals have taken advantage of modern communication tools, whereas the others have not benefited from these advancements. From my perspective, I partly disagree with this statement because the majority of people nowadays have experienced the significant functions of technology.
It is understandable why many citizens argue that they do not receive any benefits from communication technology. Firstly, the elderly are under pressure during practicing to adapt to modern technological platforms. In other words, complicated interfaces and frequent updates of apps can result in different word styles or new designs, which make the older generations feel overwhelmed and confused when using these platforms. Besides, individuals who have limited digital skills may not benefit directly from those technological advances. For instance, many middle-aged employees working far from home or abroad lack basic skills to use video calls or messaging apps efficiently, therefore they cannot work remotely and communicate with colleagues or clients, which is a major drawback slowing down their promotion process.
In spite of the above arguments, I believe that people nowadays remarkably make use of communication technology. To begin with, these breakthroughs allow us to connect with distant family and friends conveniently. Specifically, we can maintain family bonds and other relationships, which can be our emotional support and improve our well-being. For example, having a video call after a long day at school with family not only helps overseas children unwind and feel better, but also enables parents to show love and encourage their children. Furthermore, we can save considerable time for other daily tasks such as cooking, doing exercises, and doing household chores when working or studying through internet-based apps. As a result, many face-to-face activities in the past can be done online today, which reduces travelling costs and also fosters our productivity.
In conclusion, although some groups such as the elderly and people with limited technology skills have not benefited much from communication platforms, I claim that it still plays a vital role in maintaining relationships and saving time.
