An increasing number of individuals in many nations are dealing with tiredness. While this is largely driven by an increasingly busier lifestyle and high cost of living, I believe it can be addressed by prioritising mental well-being and favourable government policies and support.
One major cause of stress among the population is a hectic routine. Many people are working longer hours and prolonged shifts in order to make more money and fulfil their job responsibilties. Students are also spending more time studying to achieve academic success. As a result, individuals barely have time to rest and they experience burnout. In addition, high living expenses is another contributing factor to stress among citizens. In many parts of the world, especially in less developed countries, the cost of feeding, housing, transport, and education have skyrocketed because of unfavourable government policies such as increased taxation. This influences people to take up more than one jobs so as to afford a good standard of living. For example, most employers work a corporate job during the day and engage in content creation at night, resulting in less time for sleep and leisure activities which affects their mental well-being.
There are several ways through which the problem of increased stress among citizens could be addressed. Firstly, employers should prioritise mental well-being. They should introduce flexible working options, ensure employees do not work extremely long hours , and take their breaks and annual leaves as at when due. Consequently, this will give them more time to relax and rejuvenate, helping reduce burnouts. Furthermore, authorities should introduce favourable policies such as reduced taxation, subsidizing transport, education, and housing. They should also invest in making recreational amenities accessible to individuals. Consequently, this will lower financial obligations and help individuals relax outside of their working schedules.
In conclusion, high-stress level is becoming predominate among the population because of extremely busy modern lifestyle and expensive cost of living. However, this can be resolved through workplaces, placing more emphasis on psychological well-being and government introduction of favourable policies.
