It is argued that continuing career is better for elderly people if they are still capable of working. While this given argument might seem sensible to some extent, I hold the view that people of retirement age should stop working.
One important reason why older people continue working is that it keeps them physically and mentally active. For instance, people who continue working in old age avoid laziness and obesity. Another significant point is that working in their retirement age that they can share their experience and knowledge. Therefore, older employees teach their proven and effective working methods to younger and less experienced colleagues, which can improve a company’s development.
On the other hand, I reckon that they should stop working and retire because of fewer job opportunities for young people. For example, many companies prefer experienced employees rather than young and inexperienced workers for company’s improvement. An additional reason why elderly people stop working is that deterioration of health. Whenever, people getting older they will face with health problems. Thus, if people retire, they will have a time for their family and care about health.
In conclusion, even though they should continue working for being physically and mentally active and also sharing with their experiences at work. I strongly believe that retiring is better for them because of caring about their health and create job opportunities for younger workers.
