The development of social media has brought an undeniable change in terms of communication, especially among young people, by providing a platform for them to chat and connect with friends. However, this increased access to the internet has raised concerns about the possible dangers it poses to their safety. In this essay, I will discuss the causes of unsupervised internet use among youngsters and suggest possible solutions to avoid the risks.

One of the main causes of unsupervised internet access is the widespread use of smartphones and other devices. These allow teenagers to engage with social platforms, often without adult supervision. Parents may not be aware of the content their children are exposed to or the people they interact with online. Moreover, the peer pressure to stay connected and be active on social media can encourage young people to spend excessive time online, sometimes leading to harmful interactions, such as cyberbullying or contact with strangers with malicious intent.

To address these issues, parental and school involvement is essential. Parents should monitor and set clear guidelines for the use of social media and the internet. For example, children with active parental supervision are less likely to engage in risky online behavior, such as chatting with strangers or viewing inappropriate content. This reveals that parental support shapes children to become more aware of potential dangers on the internet, while also more likely to follow safety rules. Furthermore, educational programs in schools can educate students about online safety, including identifying suspicious behavior and the risks of sharing personal information. Studies show that children who receive proper online safety education are more likely to report incidents like cyberbullying. Therefore, children that are equipped with knowledge about the potential dangers, can respond and protect themselves in the online world.

To conclude, while social media can offer numerous benefits for young people, unsupervised access to the internet can lead to serious risks, such as exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and contact with strangers. To tackle this problem, parental control and school education are crucial. By encouraging parental supervision and promoting online safety education, we can ensure that youngsters will utilize the internet safely and respons
