Band 7+: Having more money and less free time is better than earning less money and having more free time. Discuss both views and state your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A heated debate has arisen over whether to be rich but not have spare time or to experience the opposite situation. Personally, I prefer to have money but no time, while others may not have the same opinion. This essay will discuss both opposing perspectives in depth.

On the one hand, some people advocate having more time, regardless of how much money they have. They believe that although money can bring joy to life, due to activities that cannot be done without it, it is possible to have a fulfilling life by just having the time to do different things. They are of the opinion that enjoying life is more related to their mindsets than to their incomes. Walking in the rain, for example, is an activity that can be done for free if a person is not distracted by work or study. However, others may argue that tasks that are available without money or are inexpensive are mostly tiring when repeated over time; therefore, it has nothing to do with the mindset.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that money can bring joy to life, and the only way to achieve this for most people is to sacrifice time. There is a small percentage of the population who were born rich, which means that others have to work to achieve enough money; hence, they should dedicate time to working. Accordingly, many activities, like traveling, which are entertaining, require money; thus, the fact that you may have less time but more money to enjoy your life is acceptable in this era for most of us. Moreover, if a person has free time but not enough money to fill their time with different tasks, they tend to get depressed. This would happen because they may feel there is no purpose in life when they do nothing but watch the clock ticking.

To conclude, I believe that having money to do what you want in your free time, however little, is better than having time but no money to pay for what you want to do and become depressed.
