The pie charts illustrate how annual spending changed in a particular school in the UK during each decade beginning in 1981 and ending in 2001.
Overall, it can be seen that among the five categories, teachers’ salaries made up the largest proportion in all years, while insurance spending despite its increasing trend, consisted of the least proportion of spending.
With regard to the salaries of teachers, it stood at 40% in the beginning of the period and rose to half and then declined by 5%. Likewise, insurance saw an increase from 2% in 1981 to just under 10% in 2001. Furniture and equipment, also, dramatically climbed and reached above 20% in 2001, after experiencing a considerable decrease from 15% to 5% between 1981 and 1991.
In contrast, the proportion of spending on resources decreased from 15% to 9% from 1981 to 2001, while it witnessed a slight rise to 20% in 1991. The highest decline belonged to other worker’s salaries, which fell down to half proportion of its amount (from 28% to 15% in 1981 to 2001).
