The development of technology is beyond our imagination. Children even use artificial intelligence and search engines to search for learning. Some people think that school is no longer important because children can study independently based on information from the Internet. In fact, I strongly disagree that schools are not necessary anymore and children should not study at home for two main reasons.
Firstly, information in cyberspace is mostly not selective and unsuitable for schoolchildren. Learning from non-selective knowledge might lead them to misunderstand thingsunsystematically. In contrast, schools provide a structured curriculum that has been designed by education professionals and is based on teaching methods. Sometimes information in website is limited, compered studying at school because there are interaction and clear instruction between student and teacher in learning process.
Secondly, at an early stage of learning, pupils should be taught fundamental skills and good behaviors before jumping into the vastness of cyberspace. If they do not have such skill, they will be over-reliant on internet. While all such skills and behaviors may be written on webpage, Students must fully understand and apply them in life. In school, Teacher can be a role model for children whereas internet does not have that kind of person. The most important thing being taught in school is all of the metrics, namely knowledge, skill and behavior are measured. It is totally opposite being taught from internet.
In conclusion, while the internet may provide a lot of information, it still can not justify for replacing educational institutions. Having considered the disadvantages, I do not doubt that school is still important and relevant for children in the learning process.
