In recent years, according to assessing students, some methods are used by examiners. It is said that assessing students via exams has rised in popularity over the alternative of continual assessment. This essay will explore both benefits and drawbacks like little room for cheating and putting under pressure, respectively.
On the one hand, there are some advantages of exams in assessing. One of them is that they live little room for cheating because of having invigilator. It is clear that exams are always control by supervisors who do not allow breaking rules. In contrast, continual assessments enhances the risk of plagiarism, as assignments are often completed with the help of internet. Result of reducing cheating and corruption, exams are also more time-efficiend and fairly. Furthermore they tend to only appear once or twice every year. Therefore, students have chance on preparing exam and revising informations.
On the other hand, assessing students through exam can lead to some drawbacks. For example, it is no doubt that although many students are extremely clever and creative on their daily lessons, their mind tend to be go blank, because of putting under pressure. Indeed, even the smartest of students sometimes perform unwell result of intensely high pressure. Another reason is that there are so many tests, which students did not learn before exam. This system requires the wide range of knowledge from students.
In conclusion, although formal examinations are more beneficial and fairly the reason of calling off cheating and corruption, there are some drawbacks for many studentsʼ result or concentration.
