Band 6+: Task 1: The first chart below shows the percentage of school-aged girls and boys who were at secondary school in four regions of the world in 2000. The second chart shows the percentages of college-aged men and women in higher education in the same year.

The given bar charts illustrate the proportion of school-aged and college-aged population according to gender in secondary school and higher education in four locations namely Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and East Asia in 2000.

Overall, it can be seen that Europe had the highest proportion of students who taking part-in in both education. In contrast, the lowest proportion of both genders in secondary and higher education was in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Looking at the graph in more detail, in Europe and Latin America had the proportion of female was higher than males in secondary education, and reached its peak of 100% in females, meanwhile, in other countries, the percentage of females was lower than male and hit its trough of about 20% in Sub-Saharan Africa.

With regard to higher education, the figure for students in Europe accounts for most education with 60% to70% in men and women, in contrast, three other countries had the rate quite low, around under 20% and hit bottom at under 5% in Sub-Saharan Africa.
