The maps given below illustrate the changes of Piltover library between 1984 and present day.
Overall, the floor area of the library has increased and more modern features have been added for the convenience of the library users.
If we start from the entrance and go right, there was a librarian’s desk in 1984 with an adjacent vacant place just behind the wall. In contrast, in present day scenario is a little bit different, a book drop off facility popped up just beside the entrance following by a building extension which is designated for children’s book area. In addition, the places for newspapers magazines and copier have been replaced by fiction and non-fiction books area which is also a part of building extension project. However, community meeting room is the only section of the library which remained the same. In the lower middle part, the non-fiction book selves have been removed and this space has been re-decorated with multimedia center. More over, in the middle part of the library, the shape of the study areas have got a new look from bar patterns to circular shapes. A space for DVD’s and CDs has appeared in the location of fiction book services. Finally, children’s book area in 1984 has been removed to introduce two new facilities called self service book check out and information desk/technical support.
