In 1970, while the figure for Tokyo was about 16 million, accounting for the largest populated city, that of for Jakarta was below 5 million. In 1990, there was a dramatic increase of 5 million in the number of people in Tokyo, Jakarta, and Bamby. However, New York and Shanghai saw a gradual growth of 1 million.
In 2010, the population of Bambay climbed at roughly 27 million and formed the second largest populated city after Tokyo. By contrast, the growth of population in New York fell behind other cities and accomadated 16 million.
