The given pie charts compare the frequency of social media use for both men and women in 2011 and 2014 in Australia.
Overall, both gender had increased the daily social media use in the 3 years period. Until 2014, the daily use of social media have become prevalent in both males and females. In addition, the proportion of females who use social media daily always higher than men.
Regarding frequent usage patterns, in 2011, the proportion of men who using social media every day stood at 25%, slightly lower than women at 30%. After 3 years, there were a huge differences in the daily social media use for both genders, men’s proportion increased 20%, while women percentage increased by a half. As for males and females who use social media once a week, men’s proportion were only a half compared to women at 40% in 2011. But 3 years later, both genders decreased dramatically, while men’s figure fall by a half, women’s figure even worse when it only a fourth compared to 2014.
Regarding to genders who interact with social media few times a week, in 2011, men only have 19% and slightly lower than women at 22%. In 2014, men’s proportion decreased slightly to 16% while women’s proportion decreased by over a half to 9%, and lower than men. As for people who never use social media, in 2011, the proportion of men accounted for nearly a half a 44% while in contrast, its only 8% in women, which created a huge differences in both genders. In 2014, men’s figure decreased to 30% while women’s figure increased to 22%, which were doubled compared to 2011
