The diagram illustrates the changes occured in a town near London called Chorleywood. The changes took place between 1868 and 1994.
Overall, as can be seen from the map there had been a principle development in the area, especially on the south west. Following that the growth spread more to cover more locations.
from 1868 to 1883, the town was significantly small with a main road located to the west side of the village. However during the period between 1883 and 1922 the town had been extended to cover additional area in the north. During this period a railway had been constructed accompanied by a station in the new side of the town.
looking at the changes between 1922 and 1970, the major development was in the south just around the main road and railway. in the year 1970, a new motorway had been built, after that, the town saw more significant growth on both sides of the new motorway.
