The bar chart illustrates the average pass rates of undergraduates in six different majors for the years 2008 and 2012. Overall, it is clear that pass rates for all majors increased, with the exception of health sciences, which remained stable. While computer science had the highest pass rate, humanities had the lowest.
In 2008, computer science boasted the highest pass rate at around 70%, whereas humanities had a significantly lower rate of less than 5%. Mathematics and engineering, along with health sciences, displayed relatively similar proportions of undergraduates passing, at approximately 38% and 42% respectively.
By 2012, every major experienced an increase in pass rates of at least 10%, except for health sciences, which did not change. Computer science and humanities continued to represent the majors with the highest (around 84%) and lowest (approximately 14%) pass rates, respectively. Business saw the most significant change, with an increase of nearly 30%, rising from about 23% to roughly 52% in the number of year one undergraduates passing.
