The table compares the percentage of market shares of the notebook computer globally over the years 2006 and 2007, held by 6 major maufacturers and a category called “others”. The unit is measured in percentage.
Overall, there is fluctuation in the market shares worldwide between the manufacturers over the given period. There was a gradual increase in the shares held by the HP company across the globe. In Dell and Toshiba, a similar pattern was observed. however there was a decline in the sharehold of Lenovo company by few points. Over the two years the global market share of Acer, Fujitsu- Siemens and other companies declined significantly leaving Fujitsu- Siemens receiving the lowest market share.
The market share of HP company started with 31.4% in 2006 and reached its peak in 2007 with a total share of 34 %. Dell also had a dramatical increase in the share starting with 16.6% in 2006 and reaching 20.2% by the end of 2007. However, Acer experienced a gradual decline in the marketshare from 11.6% to 10.7% , at the sametime other company shares also decreased from 22.8% to 19.3%.
Toshiba on the other hand had a steady increase from 6.2% to 7.3% over the two years. Lenovo exoerineced a changing trend , as it started with a decent share of 6.6% , which was more than toshiba but it ended facing a fall in the share and got only 6.2%. Similarly Fujitsu- Siemens kept loosing its shareover the period from 4.8% to 2.3%. throughout both years, HP remained th edominant company, whereas Fujitsu- Siemens consistently had the smallest share.
