Looking closer at the data, the percentages of Microsoft and IBM, the former started at just below 10 percent in 1980 and rose steadily between 1980 and 2000, reaching about 15 percent. Afterwards, it surged to around 45 percent by the final year (2010). The latter began at approximately 2 percent in 1980 and remained unchanged in 1985 before it increased considerably to just over 30 percent from 1985 to 2000. Then, it peaked at just over 60 percent in 2010.
Specifically, the percentage of Apple stood at about 15 percent in 1980 and decreased slowly to around 14 percent in 1985 before it remained unchanged in 1990. Then, it grew slightly to just over 20 percent in 1995 and declined to just below 20 percent in 2000. By the final year, it rose slowly, ending at about 25 percent in 2010.
