In today’s fast paced world, there are many factors that influences how a worker performances at work. Surprisingly, a survey shows that there is a significant gap between younger and older workers, with several factors influencing their work performance differently.
For instance, both younger and older employees have stated that having a competent team spirit, and a friendly welcoming work environment has a significant influence on their work performance. However, on average, the survey seems to imply that younger and fresher workers prefer more opportunities for personal developments and a stable secured role, as well as a promotion to higher ranked positions having a significant influence in their work performance.
In addition, younger workers seem to be more willing to put in more hours and work more competitively when a pay raise is on the line, while the senior workers aren’t as willing to chase wealth and promotions the same way fresher and younger workers would.
The survey shows that senior workers would perform better in a modest paced welcoming engiroment with a stable income, reliable supervisor, and respect from their colleagues.
In conclusion, the survey indicates that younger workers are more competitive and are willing to give perform better, with longer hours, if it means they can secure a stable and flexible role, with space for personal developments, promotions, and financial security. While senior workers prefer a stable but calming environment, with respect from their peers and predictability in influencing their work performance. Both age groups show that they can perform better at work under different circumstances ,implying that different workers have different needs in order to thrive in their environment.
