The graph above illustrates the total intake of four different calorie sources of UK males at three age ranges. The four types of calorie sources being dairy, meat, pulses, and vegetables. Overall, the younger age group prefers dairy, the middle aged consuming meat, and the older men with pulses as their main source.
As it is illustrated by the graph, those aged 0-24 years old have dairy at above 40% as their main source, roughly twice as much as meat and vegetables at 20%, with pulses being the least popular at just below 20%. Those aged 25-49 prefer meat as their major calorie source. With meat at 50%, dairy at a quarter, and vegetables at 15%, pulses fall behind at only 10%. In contrast to the other two age groups, the older men prefer pulses, having consumed it at 65%. Their meat intake at 20%, dairy at 15%, and vegetables at only 10%.
To conclude, both dairy and vegetables intake is higher as the age group gets progressively younger. Whereas pulses are the least popular amongst middle aged men and meat being the most popular amongst middle aged men.
