The bar chart compares the percentages of UK adults in five age groups who used the Internet every day between 2003 and 2006.
Overall, daily Internet use was generally higher among younger adults than older people. The 16-24 age group recorded the highest figures in most years, whereas those aged 65 and over had the lowest percentages. Most age groups also showed an upward trend, except for the youngest group, which declined after 2005.
Among people aged 16-24, the figure stood at about 80% in 2003 before reaching a peak of 100% in 2005. It then fell to around 90% in 2005. In contrast, the percentage for the 25-44 age group rose steadily from approximately 50% in 2003 to 80% in 2006.
A similar increase was seen among adults aged 45-54, whose figure climbed from about 60% to 80%. The 55-64 group also rose from around 30% to 50%, while the oldest group remained the lowest, at about 20% or less throughout the period.
