In 1988, over half of the visitors were from Canada, while people from Mexico make up a quarter. The figures for China and other countries were lower, at 10% and 12% . Over the following two years, there was a significant rise of 18% in the percentage of Chinese visitors. In contrast, the figures for the other countries remained relatively stable, with only a 10% increase in Canada.
Between 1990 and 1992, the proportion of tourists from Canada and other countries continued to decline by 4% each. In contrast, the percentage of Chinese visitors reach a peak of 30%, while Mexicans visitors grew by a quarter in 1990.
