The figures illustrate the main reasons why students of different age groups study and the amount of support that is received by them from employers.
Overall, it can be seen that the younger a student is, the more important the career reason is. Moreover, students aged under 26 have more employer support than those between 30 and 39.
Looking first at the reason for study, the proportion of learners under 26 years old proposing a career is the highest, at 80%, while it decreases to just under 20% when they are aged over 49. Nevertheless, studying for interest witnesses the lowest proportion, with 10% for students aged under 26, but it increases to 70% when becoming older.
For employer support, the trend is a decline, beginning at over 60% and ending at around 45%. However, there is a fluctuation that is marked in the base bar chart at around 35% for learners aged between 30 and 39.
