The chart illustrates the five types of educational attainment after secondary school based on gender in Australia in 1999.
Overall, there was greater population of males who pursued continuing education than females in most categories. It is also apparent that men greatly preferred to take skilled vocational diplomas than its female counterpart, whereas more women chose to have undergraduate diploma.
The number of males who had acquired skilled vocational diploma stood at 90%, compared to 10% of the females in the program. A similar pattern of males predominating the demographics are also seen in postgraduate diploma at about 70%, and in master’s degree at 60%, as they are double the proportion of women of the said degrees.
As for females, they favored having undergraduate diplomas accounting for 70% while males recorded around half of that. Furthermore, both genders almost exactly had the same number of bachelor’s degree students, with females recorded approximately 10% more than males.
