The chart illustrates how often people in different age groups exercise
Overall, it is clear that all three groups of people are most likely to exercise multiple times per week and weekly.
Regarding categories which have the highest levels of participation, 40% of people aged 18-40 do exercise multiple times per week, followed by those are 41-60 (35%), while the figure for over 60 people is much lower, at 20%. People exercising weekly also accounted for the large percentage, with the elderly being recorded the highest proportion (40%), while the data for 41-60 year-old and 18-40 year-old people are only 25% and 20% respectively.
As for the remaining categories which never exceed 15%, the share of people doing exercise daily is smallest in almost all age bands, ranging from 2% of 60 plus people to 10% of 18-40-years-olds. Whereas, 15% of those who are 60 and older exercise a few times a year, compared to 10% of people are 41-60 and 5% of people are 18-40. The proportion of elderly people and those aged from 18-40 do exercise once or twice a month are somewhat comparable, at 13% and 15% in that order, while only 10% of 41-60 year-old people do so. Finally, people aged 41-60 who do not exercise accounted for 15%, the figures for those 18-40 and over 60 are lower, at 10% and 5% in turn.
