The chart demonstrates the number of people who worked in five occupational categories (sales, accounting, computing, nursing, farming) in an Australian region during the years 2001 and 2008.
Overall, it can be observed that there were more people employed in the five aforementioned types of jobs in 2008 than in 2001. The majority of Australians worked in sales, whereas the farming sector had the fewest workers in both 2001 and 2008.
In terms of sales, it was the most prominent sector with slightly over 160.000 individuals employed in 2001 and just above 140.000 in 2008. Computing and nursing were less popular. However, in 2008, the number of Australians in these three fields was higher than in 2001. Computing employees went up from around 60.000 to 80.000 and nursing employees increase from a bit under 60.000 to exactly 60.000 people.
Accounting and farming had more employees in 2001 than in 2008. Farming was the least popular sector with well over 20.000 people in 2001 and fell to approximately 20.000 people in the next 7 years. There was a minor decline in this field.
