The bar chart illustrates the percentage of female adolescents and adults in a specific nation who watched or participated in six sports in 2000.
Overall, it is evident that there are significant differences between those who took part in sports versus those who watched them.
Female tennis audiences accounted for sixty percent of the total population of females age 16 to 25, but only half of the figure participated in the sport. Similarly, those who participated in gymnastics only accounted t en percent, but the rate of spectators was a fifth. However, basketball has the lowest disparity, as the spectation rate is only approximately five percent higher than the participation rate, which are at around fifty-five and fifty respectively. Horse riding and racing has the lowest popularity, as both the participation and engagement rates are under five percent.
In contrast, badminton had a higher participation rate among the female adults and teenagers, as more than ten percent played it, whilst only around five percent spectate. Similarly, the same occurs with golf, albeit with a much greater disparity, as three-tenths of female adolescents and adults took part in it, whilst only a third of that percentage watched it.
