The bar chart gives information about the percentages of internet users who shopped online in six different age groups in Canada from 2014 to 2018.
Overall, all age groups experienced an increase in the proportion of people shopping online throughout the period. In addition, people from 26 to 35 accounted for the highest share of the total in 2014; however, this figure was overtaken by the figure for those from 35 to 45, which experienced a the most substantial rise in 2018.
Looking at the chart in more detail, just one fifth of the Canadians from 15 to 25 used the internet for shopping online and about just over 30% of 26-to-35-year-olds did so in 2014. In the following year, both figures also followed a similar upward trend, climbing significantly to 23% and 33% respectively. Meanwhile, people between 35 and 45 ranked second, at 37% in the beginning before increasing sharply to 48% by 2018, the highest figure on the chart. As for the 45-55 age group, the proportion began at 22% in 2014 and then witnessed a gradual increase to 37% in the final year.
Regarding the remaining age range, the share of Canadians from 55 to 65 shopping on the Internet in 2014 stood at 12% and rising to approximately 28% at the end of the period. Lastly, people aged over 65 were much lower in both years, starting at 5% in 2014 and growing to 12% by 2018.
