The bar chart given shows information about the percentage of learners who select different subjects relating to science. The date was collected in a university in two different years namely 1992 and 2012.
Overall, the percentage of females studying science subjects has increased significantly for 20 years. Meanwhile, the proportions of students choosing biology, physics and computer all experienced enormous changes between 1992 and 2012.
To begin, the percentage of males who learned science subjects was larger than this of females in 1992, at 65% and nearly a third respectively. However, by 2012, the number of both genders selecting different science subjects was nearly equal, a half in men and 45% in women.
In 1992, the percentage of people studying biology was the largest, at 65% while the figure of computer science was the smallest, at only about 2%. By 2012, the proportion of students deciding to learn physics fell slightly from 23% to a fifth. Similarly, the percentage of people studying biology witnessed a remarkable decrease from 65% to over 40%, which still ranked first among subjects. Surprisingly, in 2012, the percenatge of learners choosing computer science increased quickly from 2% to 22%, which surpassed this figure of physics.
