The chart gives information about distance covered by travelers per week (in kilometers) using different modes of transportation in the UK over a 10-year period, from 1990 to 2000.
Overall, total number of kilometers travelled by citizens of UK was found to be increased during 10-year time period. Bus and rail were the most common means of transportation whereas bicycle and motorbike were the least preferred mode of transportation in both time period.
In 1990, people in UK travelled total of 100 kilometers including all modes of transportation and, by 2000, this number rose to around 110 kilometers. In both years, bus and rail travel were the most commonly used transportation mode, with bus having distance covered around 42 and 44 kilometers in 1990 and rail covering around 37 and 38 kilometers in 2000.
Air travel showed significant increase from around 5 kilometers per week in 1990 to 20 kilometers per week in 2000. However, people travelled relatively less distance by bicycle and motorbike in both years. Specifically, we can see almost half decrease in distance travelled by bicycle and motorbike in 2000.
