Overall, the majority of customers in both Australia and New Zealand preferred using a combination of local and overseas websites, while shopping from local sites alone was the least popular option. In both countries, lower prices were the main motivation for online shopping, whereas other reasons were mentioned only by a small minority.
In detail, shopping from local websites was the least popular option for Australians and New Zealanders, accounting for 12% and 14%, respectively. While overseas websites’ buyers showed a 12% disparity between two countries, which are 24% and 36%, respectively. 64% of purchasers opted for both overseas and local websites in Australia, while 50% of people used this method of shopping online in New Zealand.
Moreover, the most common reason was lower prices for both countries, at 59% and 51%, respectively. In Australia, 23% of customers cited convenience as their reason for shopping online, whereas in New Zealand, a wider range of choices was a more significant factor. However, both countries had other reasons for shopping online, with 2%.
