The charts present information about the proportion of readers who preferred read four distinct categories of books—science fiction, biographies, self-help, and novels—according to their age groups at AZ library in 2009.
Overall, it is evident that both 18-25-year-olds and people aged 26-34 preferred to read self-help books, while science fiction books had the minimum proportion of readers.
The percentage of self-help books which were read by people aged 18 to 25 was 58%, while novels accounted for 23%. In addition, biographies made up 10%, whilst the share of science fiction books was 9%, hitting the lowest point among all types of books in that year.
By comparison, 42% of 26-34-year-olds read self-help books, while 20% of them read novels. In contrast, biographies which were read by people aged 26 to 34 accounted for higher proportion (31%) than people aged 18 to 25. Science fiction books stood at 7%, which was lower than 18-25-year-olds.
