A preliminary examination of the graphs reveal that people aged 15-24 years in New Zealand spent least time on reading leisure, while the highest time on reading was seen in the 55 + age group. Regarding listening to music, young individuals aged 15 to 24 spent the highest time in this activity per day. By contrast, the average amount of time on a day spent on listening to music of people aged 35-44 was the smallest number.
As can be clearly seen in the charts, 55+ years old spent the highest time on reading leisure, with 70 minutes per day, which was almost 3 times higher than that of the young group 15-24, only 20 minutes on a daily basis. The average number of time per day spent on reading by 45-54 years old was 50 minutes, which decreased by 20 minutes compared with 55+ years old. To be more specific, the gathered statistics of average time spent per day on reading from 25-34 years old and 35-44 years old, 35 minutes and 45 minutes respectively.
Looking at the details, young group 15 – 24 continued to be the major average time spent on listening to music, with 80 minutes per day, which was around twice the statistics of 35 – 44 years old, only 45 minutes on a daily basis. Followed by the amount of time per day spent on listening leisure activities of people aged 55+, with almost 75 minutes. Notably, the number of time spent on listening to music by 25-34 years old and 45-54 years old was relatively equal at 60 minutes.
