The maps illustrate the transformation of Queen Mary Hospital over four decades, from 1960 to 2000. During this period, the hospital underwent significant changes, with the most noticeable being the replacement of the shopping center and farmland with a pharmacy and cancer center by the end of the timeframe.
In 1960, the west side of the hospital featured a shopping center and farmland, while the east side was occupied by a hospital building and a car park. At the beginning of the 1980s, Queen Mary Hospital underwent some adjustments; the shopping center was reduced in size and converted into a cancer center. Additionally, a pharmacy was established in the space previously occupied by the shopping center, integrating it with the hospital for improved convenience.
Furthermore, the car park remained at the back of the hospital, but the farmland was repurposed into a nursing school. By 2000, there were modifications to the layout. The cancer center expanded, while the areas for the nursing school and car parking decreased. However, the main hospital building remained unchanged throughout this time.
