The maps illustrate the changes of West Park Secondary School and the surrounding areas from 1950 to 2010.
Overall, located on the south side of the mail road, the school and the neighbouring area witnessed significant changes during the six decades.
When the school was constructed in 1950, it was next to a playground and blocks of houses. On the southwest side of the school, it was a large farmland at that time.
However, after three decades, the size of the school was expanded. The blocks of houses was replaced by a new science block next to the main building of the school and a small car park. In addition, the place used to be the farmland was re-designed into a spacious sports field in 1980.
Although the buildings of the school saw no difference in 2010, there were two major changes happened to the adjacent lands. Firstly, the size of the car park saw a significant increase by replacing the old sports filed. This also led to the second change, which is a new sports field being built in the middle of the new car park and the playground. Furthermore, in order to build the new sports field, the size of the playground was also decreasd to two thirds of the original dimension.
