The two given maps illustrate the comparison of the scheme of a school library over a 5 year period.
Overall, it can be seen that the layout of the library largely remained identical with a minor change in the number of studying tables, while the function of some of the area has been modified.
In detail, in the west part of the plan, three adjacent rooms were provided for classroom, meeting room, and borrowing and returning desk 5 years ago. To the east side of it, there existed a library office with a desk for computers next to it. Two books shelves were located in the north and south parts of the layout facing each other. Between them, there was an area of studying tables comprising of four, which could also be considered to be in the middle.
Regarding the current plan, the size of the rooms in the west has been diminished in order to divide borrowing and returning desk room into two separate ones. Additionally, classroom has been altered into a recording studio. To the east side, library has become a conference room, while the area which aimed for a desk for computers now operates as desks for students’ laptop. Only one area of book shelves, that is in the north side, has been transformed into the same function as in the east part – desks for students’ laptop. Lastly, not only the availability of the studying tables has become private, but also the number of tables has been increased from four to six.
