Overall, the chart clearly shows an upward and downward trend throughout the years. The number of applicants that gained entry with music was seen to experience some fluctuations and hitting some lows whereas in science and arts, the average students that had admission throughout the years saw a significant rise.
To begin with, the proportion of pupils that chose music in the1970s was 60 out of the total admission, it then reached a peak of 90% of successful applicants in the 1980s followed by some fluctuations between the 1990s and 2000s accounting for 75% and 90% respectively. It then plunged to 65 percent at the end of the year.
On the other hand, students that gained entry with science saw a steady rise from approximately 75% to 80% in the year 1970 and 1980. It then rose to about 85% in the 1990s and subsequently stood at 90% from the 2000s to 2010. However, pupil with arts gained saw a significant shift in trend from 1970 to 1980 reaching a proportion from 70 to 64 respectively. It then saw a constant number from the 1990s to the 2000s and ascended to 80% at the end of the year 2010.
