The data presented in the table illustrates the quantity of deep mines producing coal in the UK from 1913 to 2015.
In general, there is a pronounced decline in figures for British coal-produced industry throughtout two specified decades.
Innitially, the count of deep coal mines reached a peak at total of 3024 in 1913. Then there was a steep decline with the count dropping to 2607 operational sites in 1943. By 1963, the quantity of producing-mines significantly dropped by over 800 and by 1983, just 170 deep mines markedly remained.
The process of closing down the UK’s deep mines remarkedly did show no sign of stopping. At the beginning of 21st century, in 2003, the firgure for producing mines in Britain considerably had fallen to 20. Subsequently, the firgures had accounted for a mere 5 of UK’s mines left in 2015.
