The bar chart illustrates the proportion of varied types of recycled waste in a town between the years 2000 and 2010.
Overall, 2010 had the most significant increase in recycling rates over the past ten years. The proportion of recycling rose sharply in 2010, whilst the other years had a more gradual increase.
The year 2010 received the most remarkable rise in recycling across four types of waste. In terms of metal recycling, made a dramatic jump from around 10% in 2000 to almost 40% in 2010. Cans and paper also saw increases in recycling rates, reaching just under 40% and over 20% respectively. Despite these notable increases, plastic remained at its lowest rate among others, attaining 30% approximately in 2010.
While the year 2010 achieved recycling by a staggering proportion, other years performed a gradual upward in overview. In 2005, figures of all recycled waste stood between 10% and 20%. Similar increases are displayed for metal recycled in 2005, resulting in the peaking level, just below 30%.
