The graph illustrates the number of grams of potatoes, pasta, and rice consumed in a European country from 1976 to 2006.
Overall, all three show different trends from their starting positions; moreover, potatoes and pasta replaced each other in the lower and higher results.
Firstly, pasta is the only product showing growth. There were roughly 270 grams per week in 1976, steadily increasing to 500 in 1996. This number remained stable until the end of the period. Potatoes, which were in the lead with approximately 410 grams per week, remained higher from 1976 to 1996, before pasta surpassed them.
Rice, which was at an average of approximately 300 grams per week, showed a smooth decrease to roughly 190 grams per week from the start of the period to 1991. Then it experienced an insignificant increase to 200 after a stable period.
