The line graph illustrates the percentage of adults (18-25) in educational establishments across different countries from 1961 to 2011.
Overall, Thailand and Singapore witnessed the wildest fluctuations over the period; however, Singapore remained in the highest position by 2011. Singapore and Malaysia had a stable increase but stayed at a relatively low point.
To begin with Thailand, the percentage of students was just below 25 in 1961, and this was quite consistent for three decades. However, throughout the remaining period, the proportion of students saw a sharp rise, peaking at over 40 percent in 2011, surpassing others. Singapore started with exactly 15 percent of adults and doubled over the next decade. The figure experienced the least fluctuations over time; it declined by 5% in 1981 before swelling to slightly over 30% and dropping below 35% from 1991 to 2001. By the end of the given year, Singapore reached its highest point at roughly 40%.
Malaysia had between 5 and 10 percent of mature students in universities, and this trend modestly climbed to almost 20% by 2011. Recording the lowest figures, the Philippines had slightly more than 0% in 1961 and managed to climb to 15% in 1991, fixing its max until 2011.
