The bar chart illustrates the proportion of the population in different age groups lacking physical exercise in Australia.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the highest proportion of both males and females who are inactive in physical exercise is in the 75+ age group. By contrast, the proportion of men and women leading the lowest sedentary lifestyle in the 15-24 agegroup.
In terms of the 15-24 age group, nearly 14% of Australian males are inactive in physical exercise, while around 19% of females are idle. The proportion of Australian adults resting from fitness routines is almost 18% and 21%, a rise of 3% for males, respectively. However, the proportion of individuals motionless in exercise routines is the same for both, approximately 28% of people in the 35-44 age group. In addition, over 30% of men are still dormant in physical exercise, whereas similarly around 25% of females are, a fall of almost 5%.
On the other hand, the 55-64 age group, men and women are less likely to do physical exercise, with about 42% and around 36% of people, respectively. Just under 28% of people are not active in doing exercise, and nearly 30% of women are inactive in the 65-75 age group. For the 75+ age group, a higher percentage of women than men are inactive—nearly 42% and almost 55% of people, respectively.
