Overall, all countries experienced an upward trend, albeit varying degrees. Belgium emerged as the leading country by the end of the period, exceeded that of Spain and Germany. However, Italy witnessed the most substantial growth. By contrast, Germany showed only marginal increase and remained relatively stable throughout the period.
In 2000, Germany had the highest percentage at 31%, followed by Spain (26%) and Belgium (23%). By 2004, Spain and Belgium increased noticeably to around 36% and 35% respectively, and exceeded that of Germany. After that Spain experienced marginal decrease to about 35% by 2012. Belgium remained comparatively stable from 2004 to 2008, before increasing to approximately 38%, whereas Germany showed only a modest rise to around 33%.
In contrast, the UK and Italy showed much lower figures, at 17% and 3% respectively. However the UK increased gradually to about 23% by 2012, Italy saw a dramatic rise to around 24%, representing the most pronounced growth among all countries.
