The table illustrates the share of individuals unemployed in the total labour work force across 9 countries between 1994 and 2004. Overall, it can be clearly seen that the highest percantage in 2004 was in Poland, while Ireland had the lowest.
In 1994 the biggest share was in Ireland, but it suddenly decreased to 4.4% in 2004. Compared to Poland, which was second after Ireland in 1994. Then, it rised from 12.4% to 19%. Italy also experienced a sharp decline, from 11.8% to 8.4%. Another one country Canada, which stood at 10.6%, but then decreased for around 3%. The United Kingdom also saw similar pattern, as Canada it declined for approximately 3%, from 9.5% to 4.7%.
On the other hand, Germany was one the countries, which experienced rise. Stood at 7%, but then increased to 9.4%. The United States and Australia were at the same percantages in 2004. However, initially the United States was higher than Australia, 7.2% and 5%, respectively. The only one Asian country Japan increased marginally, from 2.7% to 4.7%.
