Overall, individuals living in urban areas had the highest internet access than in rural areas. Moreover, both the area experienced an upward trend throughout the years.
In 1999, people in metropolitan cities had 15% of web access, while it steadily increased to 30% in 2000. Furthermore, rural areas had only 2% of internet connectivity in 1999, which is very less compared to suburban, while it rose to 5% after a year. Additionally, European citizens living in cities experienced a gradual increase in digital access throughout the years, in 2004 it reached to 55%.
Nevertheless, people in villages also slowly experienced a growth in internet from 2001, around 10% had access to internet. Moreover, by 2004 rural areas had 35% of internet connectivity; even though it is very less compared to urban areas.
